We are deeply honoured to share that 411 Seniors Centre Society has been selected by the United Nations Association in Canada – Vancouver Branch as the 2025 recipient of the Renate Shearer Award for Human Rights.

This prestigious recognition celebrates individuals and organizations that demonstrate outstanding commitment to advancing human rights locally and globally. Since 1988, the Vancouver Branch has partnered with community leaders to honour those who work tirelessly to uphold dignity, equality, and justice.

Our selection carries special meaning during the UN Decade of Healthy Aging (2021–2030), led by the World Health Organization (WHO). This global initiative highlights the importance of supporting older adults, promoting inclusion, and advocating for the rights of seniors. We share the UNA-Canada’s hope that these efforts will contribute to a future UN Proclamation on the Rights of Older Persons.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude for this recognition and remain committed to championing the rights, well-being, and contributions of older adults in our community.
