Today, we proudly celebrate three years since 411 Seniors Centre Society opened its doors at our current home on Fraser Street and East 19th Avenue.

This milestone represents far more than a relocation—it reflects decades of resilience, vision, and commitment to seniors in our community.

411’s story began in 1977 at the former Vancouver Labour Temple on Dunsmuir Street, where it became a vital hub for seniors’ services, advocacy, and connection. Over the years, the Centre built a strong reputation through programs such as its volunteer-run income tax clinic, information and referral services, and a wide range of educational and social activities.

Following the sale of the Dunsmuir building in 2010, 411 entered a long period of transition, operating from a temporary location while working toward the vision of a new permanent home. That journey—marked by planning, partnerships, and perseverance—spanned over a decade.

Through collaboration with the City of Vancouver, the Vancouver Affordable Housing Agency, and the Community Land Trust, that vision became a reality. Construction began in 2020, and in Spring 2023, 411 officially moved into its new purpose-built space at 3502 Fraser Street—alongside affordable housing for seniors above.

Today, our Centre continues to be a vibrant, inclusive space where older adults can access programs, services, and meaningful connections.

As we celebrate this three-year anniversary, we honour everyone who contributed to making this possible—past and present Board members, staff, volunteers, partners, and our incredible community of members.

We look forward to continuing this legacy for many years to come.
