And here we are – September. I hope that you all experienced a warm (sometimes too warm) and loving summer and are ready for the many and varied 411 Senior Centre September programs, workshops and events. Please join us for our many and varied programs such as fitness classes, cards, books, languages, music, cooking, eating, trivia, movies and much more! Workshops are usually scheduled for a weekly Tuesday afternoon – different topics, different presenters. And last but not least – wonderful scheduled day trips from far and near – nothing but rave reviews! You can find our monthly calendar on our website or pick up a printed copy at the front desk at the centre. Our 411 WEEKLY is a great email reminder of what’s on for each day of that week.
On behalf of the 411 Senior Centre, we are honoured to have an unsung hero amongst us who advocates for seniors on a daily basis. Marion Pollack. She is an inspiration to all who know her, coupled with a wicked sense of humour, but most of all, she has an integral understanding of the difficulty that some older adults face in their lives and the challenges to find solutions. Her name is recognized by most politicians who have engaged with her in conversations, knowing that she is championing for older adults whose only ask that they be able to have a voice and the ability to live with some dignity.
It is for this reason that Marion Pollack is being honoured with the following:
