This is a repository of stories about getting older in Canada and Indigenous communities. Inspired by the book Aging People, Aging Places, we hope to showcase the experiences of seniors from sea to sea to sea. Aging People, Aging Places brings together academic research, practitioner reflections and personal narratives from older adults across Canadian and Indigenous communities to examine the local implications of aging in cities and communities.
Now we want to expand beyond the book – from reflections, poetry, photography and videos, to recipes, audio clips, narratives, and artwork – we want to platform the joys, struggles and everyday lives of older adults through this site. This is an ongoing project and we would love to have you contribute – see this link to submit your story.
Funded by a Knowledge Translation grant from Toronto Metropolitan University Faculty of Community Services, the Editors of Aging People, Aging Places also bring together the book’s contributors to have them tell the stories of their work in their own voices.
Now, more than ever – our society is asking big questions about the kind of world we are currently living in, and the one we want to live in as we age. And what better way to explore this than through listening to the voices of diverse older people?
