The Navigation and Peer Support Community of Practice hosted two guest speakers from the United Way Provincial Working Groups. We heard about community responses to address seniors’ transportation access from Pablo Zacarias (Transportation Working Group) such as the Easy Riders program to help familiarize seniors with using public transit (see Seniors on the Move for more senior-related transportation options). Annwen Loverin (Nutritional Supports) shared results of community consultations that highlighted the integral role of volunteer-driven meal delivery programs and the challenges of meeting the increasing food insecurity faced by seniors.
