Guest host Robin Erikson welcomes podcast peer leader Lesley Hebert, President of the New Westminster Council of Women. Lesley mediates a discussion with Metis Star Elder Kendra Crowell, President of IKES (Indigenous Knowledgekeepers and Elders Society; Vancouver Council of Women member Marlene Adam; and Métis foster parent Jessica Simard.

Jessica tells her story about the challenges she faced dealing with the Ministry when she tried to adopt her two Métis foster children.

We discuss the issue of foster parents rights, the defunct foster to adopt program, the power of support groups, ways that Jessica can continue to tell her story and the need for agency accountability. We conclude our discussion by agreeing to continue sharing resources after the podcast.
