Monitoring Seniors Services
From the Office of the BC Seniors Advocate: Newly released 2023 Monitoring Seniors Services report highlights increased pressure on seniors’ services due to rising population and residual effects from the pandemic. Affordability, access to services and rising rates of abuse and neglect are of particular concern for B.C. seniors.
“The provincial government has significantly increased funding in many seniors services, but this has been offset by rising costs and increasing demand from a growing seniors population,” stated BC Seniors Advocate Isobel Mackenzie. “The result is reductions in the rate services like home support and increases in wait times for others such as long-term care.”
